SCPA members encouraged to participate in THINK F1RST Campaign
ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN
We bet you can name the five freedoms guaranteed in the First Amendment, but there’s a good chance members of your community cannot.
That’s why S.C. Press Association has signed on as one of more than 40 press and broadcast associations across the country participating in the “Think F1rst” campaign.
The campaign, created by the Media of Nebraska, offers print, video and audio promos that educate Americans about the five freedoms guaranteed in the First Amendment.
The campaign was created by the Media of Nebraska in 2018 as a response to an Annenberg Public Policy Center survey that revealed that nearly 4 in 10 students couldn’t name even one of the five freedoms guaranteed by the First Amendment. Media of Nebraska members worked together to outline a campaign to combat these disturbing statistics.
“We felt so strongly about the importance of this message that the respective foundations of the Nebraska Press Association and Nebraska Broadcasters Association agreed to pay for the new creative to be used across the country,” said Allen Beermann, executive director of the Nebraska Press Association. “Preserving the First Amendment has now become a joint effort.”
The creative elements of the campaign were created by Clark Creative Group of Omaha, which also made an in-kind contribution to the production costs.
SCPA members are encouraged to view and download campaign materials now and run them through the end of 2019.
“We’re proud to partner with these organizations on such an important campaign,” said Bill Rogers, SCPA executive director. “The Media of Nebraska team put a lot of thought and money into this project and we’re grateful they’re sharing it with our members. The ads are very effective.”
